I build, containerize and automate the deployment of cloud infrastructure β learning the stack hands-on through labs, internships, and projects, from Docker and Kubernetes to Terraform and CI/CD.
01 β About Me
I'm Muhammad Islah Uddin, a Computer Science graduate from Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi, working toward a career in DevOps and cloud engineering. Most of what I know comes from doing it myself β containerizing applications, wiring CI/CD pipelines, standing up Kubernetes clusters on Minikube, and provisioning AWS infrastructure with Terraform until something breaks and I have to work out why.
Before that, I spent four months as an IT intern at UBL Funds, where I got comfortable with the less glamorous side of infrastructure β Windows systems, user accounts, printers, and the kind of troubleshooting that teaches you to stay calm when something suddenly stops working.
I'm currently interning with ProStackHub and recently completed a DevOps internship with Progree, both spent deepening the same stack. I'm looking for a junior DevOps or cloud engineering role where I can keep learning from people who've done this longer than I have.
02 β What I Do
Building AWS infrastructure in lab environments β EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, Route 53, Lambda, ECS and API Gateway β following AWS best practices.
Building automated build-test-deploy pipelines with Jenkins and GitHub Actions, from code checkout to image push.
Packaging apps with Docker and deploying them on Kubernetes via Minikube and Helm, including GitOps rollouts with ArgoCD.
Provisioning infrastructure with Terraform and automating configuration with Ansible β including remote state management.
Getting hands-on with Prometheus and Grafana for application and infrastructure metrics, and Uptime Kuma for uptime checks.
Comfortable in Ubuntu/Linux environments and Bash scripting, backed by CCNA networking fundamentals β TCP/IP, DNS, troubleshooting.
03 β Featured Work
A GitOps pipeline where a Flask app's Kubernetes manifests live in Git, and ArgoCD keeps the cluster synced automatically. Currently extending it with Prometheus, Grafana and Slack alerts.
Automated build-test-deploy pipelines that provision infrastructure and ship containerized applications, combining Jenkins and GitHub Actions with Terraform and Ansible.
Provisioning AWS infrastructure β VPC, EC2, IAM, S3 β with Terraform. Currently moving from local state to an S3 remote-state backend.
A mini elastic-microservices cluster built with Terraform's Docker provider and Minikube, using LocalStack to simulate AWS β with persistent volumes, NGINX ingress and autoscaling.
Designed and deployed cloud infrastructure covering networking, compute, storage, IAM, container services and serverless components, following AWS best practices.
04 β My Journey
Hands-on exposure to Linux infrastructure, Docker and Kubernetes, CI/CD concepts, Terraform, AWS fundamentals, and monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana.
Built a multi-stage Docker container pipeline extended with automated GitHub Actions deployment, and a Terraform + Kubernetes microservices lab using LocalStack.
First-line IT support β Windows systems, Outlook accounts, office peripherals, and day-to-day IT operations in a live financial environment.
Docker Certified Associate (NAVTTC / Corvit) β’ CCNA: Introduction to Networks β’ Cloud Foundations β’ Node.js β’ Scrum Fundamentals Certified (SFC) β’ Android Application Development
CGPA 3.00 / 4.00. Also completed an ACCP Prime Certification in Computer Science at Aptech Pakistan, Oct 2019 β Dec 2022.
